2014 Acura RLX
Acura may have struggled in positioning itself in the luxury segment, but the 2014 Acura RLX proves that the auto brand has finally caught up with its rivals—and is ready to give them a run for their money. It might be too early to call the 2014 Acura RLX a success—but it definitely has the makings of what could be the next most popular and affordable luxury sedan.
The 2014 RLX positions itself in the mid/high luxury segment, going against sedans like the BMW 5 and the Audi 6. The automaker boldly proclaims that it’s “the best car Acura has ever produced”. With its impressive specs and above average performance, that sounds about just right.
The 2014 Acura RLX is equipped with a SOHC 24-valve V6 engine with aluminum block and heads, and direct fuel engine. With 310 horsepower and 272 lb-feet, the engine has a 6-speed automatic transmission alongside a manual shifting mode. For hybrid junkies, there’s a hybrid all-wheel drive model that comes with the same engine, and an improved 30-mpg fuel economy.
For the 2014 Acura RLX, size matters and is considered as one of its main selling points. It has the same size as its predecessor, although it has a two-inch longer wheelbase. This means that the legroom inside is improved.
Inside, the luxury and comfort are uncompromising. The front seats are trimmed in expensive leather. The rear headroom, though, may be too cramped for tall people. The 2014 Acura RLX cabin is a great place to be in, and easily beats the BMW and the Audi in this aspect.
The Technology Package has a few irresistible kicks, including an AcuraLink Communication system, and the Aha audio streaming interface. With these, you gain access to a range of connectivity and infotainment features. You can also connect your smartphone to the system. The navigation system is also equipped with security features, such as surface-street traffic navigation, stolen vehicle tracking, and airbag deployment notification.
Safety is one of the main selling points of this luxury sedan. Acura’s flagship sedan has several safety features, including airbags for driver’s front knee, for the sides, and for the rear passengers to name a few.
For the Advance trim model, the safety features are outstanding. It has a lane keeping assist system, adaptive cruise control, and a forward collision warning. All trim models are equipped with the lane departure warning. While the adaptive cruise control prevents it from hitting a car a speeding car by slowing down or even halting to a complete stop when necessary. The lane keeping assist on the other hand, keeps the car on the lane.
To no surprise, the 2014 RLX has received top ratings from federal crash tests. It even got the Safety Pick Plus status from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
This four-door luxury sedan has a base price of $49,345. This can increase depending on the other additives. If you get the Navigation trim level, you pay an additional $2500. The Technology package brings it to a total of $55,345.Cat : Acura,
