2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4
The name Lamborghini has always been synonymous with power, speed and glory and the 2013 Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera Edizione Tecnica series is no exception. Launched at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012, Lamborghini once again is taking vehicle technology to the extreme. According to Lamborghini “with a more determined lightweight design, a focus on high performance and a purist look, the Edizione Tecnica marks the very pinnacle of the Gallardo family. Edizione Tecnica immediately stands out for its front end featured by a pointed nose with two large air intakes for cooling the radiator, and an aerodynamic spoiler at the center.”
This is a two door, two seater coupe with a 5.2 liter 10 cylinder engine that averages 13 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway (yes gas guzzler tax is involved in any purchase). It has 562 horsepower with 398 lb ft at 6,500 rpms. It’s zero to sixty in 3.7 seconds will take your breath away. Part of the speed that Lamborghini has achieved was saving 88 pounds by using carbon instead of plastics and metal, and another 28.6 pounds using forged alumina, 19 inch alloy wheels and titanium wheel nuts. This included using light weight polycarbonate in the side glass, rear glass and engine cover and a rear hood of carbon fiber. The rear diffuser, rear spoiler, underbody paneling, exterior mirror housing and door sills are all carbon fiber. Engineers switched the side glass, the rear glass and the engine cover to light-weight polycarbonate, while the rear hood made of carbon fiber. After recently cementing its carbon-fiber research alliance with the University of Washington’s Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory, the Superleggera also uses carbon fiber for the rear diffuser, underbody paneling, exterior mirror housings, door sills and the rear spoiler.
The tires P235/35ZR19 Frt & P295/30ZR19 Rr Pirelli P Zero. This includes a manual six speed close ratio transmission with a manual shift lever on the floor. The four wheel ABS brake system combined with the Brembo four wheel disc bakes, air bags (front and side), pre-tensioner seatbelts, integrated roll over protection and driveline traction control makes this a safe ride. The LP570-4 Superleggara comes standard with a AM/FM Stereo w/CD/MP3 and includes 4 speakers and an auxiliary input jack (USB). But it’s not the sounds system that you buy one of these beauties.
