2013 Hyundai Sonata
Hyundai Sonata is an affordable and stylish car that set a new standard for midsize family cars in 2011. Although it is getting stiff competition from the likes of Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Ford Fusion, it is still arguably the best in its class. Characterized by a powerful engine, great fuel economy, top safety rating and lengthy warranty, the car is an excellent choice if you want to drive your family and children around in safety and style. It is available in GLS sedan, SE sedan and Limited trim levels.
The 2013 Hyundai Sonata provides you with two powerful engine options. The 2.4 liter Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine for the GLS produces 198 HP of power and 186 lbs-ft of torque. The more powerful 2.0 twin-scroll turbocharged engine of the SE and Limited models generates 274 HP and 269 lbs-ft of torque. These powerful engines give the car enough power to smoothly overcome almost any kind of road conditions with ease.
As midsized cars go, the 2013 Sonata is quite fast and superbly fuel efficient. The SE has a top speed of 153 miles per hours which is impressive for a family car. For fuel consumption, both GLS and SE with the 2.4 liter GDI engine have EPA rating of 24 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. When fitted with the 2.0 twin-scroll turbocharged engine, they can give a slightly lower 22 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. Not many midsized cars are fuel efficient at this level.
The 2013 Sonata offers only six-speed automatic transmission, which is just fine because family cars are better off without the more confusing manual gearbox. The transmission system uses Hyundai’s proprietary Shiftronic technology with overdrive (OD) that provides smooth acceleration and greater fuel efficiency The GLS can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 7.9 seconds, which is quite normal for today’s midsized cars. The SE can do the same in 6.7 seconds, which is very quick for a family car.
The new Sonata has a sleek and aerodynamic design based on Hyundai’s “Fluidic Sculpture” design concept which places emphasis on attunement with the natural environment. With its graceful curves and lines, it can be said to be the epitome of the company’s design concept. The 4-door GLS sedan and Limited have a made-for-the-city sleek look while the 4-door SE has a somewhat sporty appearance. No wonder people instantly fall in love with the external appearance of the Sonata.
The interior of the 2013 Sonata is as well designed as the exterior. The car has ample space for five passengers (including the driver). The seats are designed for comfort and there is even an option for heated seats. However, the backseat may be a bit discomforting for a very tall person because of the slated roof. The cargo space is a roomy 16.4 cubic feet, which is enough to bring a smile on a heavy traveler’s face.
The 2013 Sonata has been rated one of the safest midsized cars on the road. It incorporate all the standard safety features of Hyundai, including active head restraints, airbags for driver and passengers, anti-lock brakes, child seat anchors, vehicle stability management system (VSM), electronic stability control, traction control, electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist (BA) system. The patented Blue Link Telematic system provides services like remote opening of door locks, turn-by-turn navigation, speed and curfew limits and emergency crash response.
No Hyundai car is complete without an impressive lineup of gadgets and the 2013 Sonata is no exception. Its patented 400-watt Infinity audio system comes with 9 speakers to fill up the entire interior with crisp and clear sound. The AM/FM/CD/MP3 player comes with SiriusXM Satellite Radio and HD Radio technology that allows you to tune in to over 170 commercial-free radio stations. The USB port iPod jack and Bluetooth allow you to connect to any number of devices. The 7″ touch screen (optional) provides easy access to climate control, audio and phone function and navigation.
The 2013 Hyundai Sonata has everything that you could expect in a midsized car. Its sleek external appearance, roomy and gadget-filled interior, powerful and fuel-efficient engines make it a true winner in every way. Available at the price range of $20,995 (GLS) to $27,595 (Limited), it is an affordable car that gives good values for your money. The Sonata is not made for super speed, but considering all, it is the perfect midsized family car if you are looking for one.Cat : Hyundai,
